Game 1 – Opening Day

April 6, 2009

Today, the Mets will play their first game in what will hopefully be their first win of the season on their way to the World Series. As we know from the last two seasons, every game counts and today the Mets will be playing the Reds as Johan Santana faces off against Aaron Harang in Cincinatti, weather permitting. Santana has won his last two Opening Day starts.

Today’s lineup will be:

Jose Reyes SS

Daniel Murphy LF

David Wright 3B

Carlos Delgado 1B

Carlos Beltran CF

Ryan Church LF

Brian Schneider C

Luis Castillo 2B

Johan Santana P

Mets Lineup (Part I)

February 24, 2009

The buzz at Mets Spring Training is that Mets Manager, Jerry Manuel, has said he is considering tinkering with the lineup during Spring Training by moving Luis Castillo to the leadoff spot and Jose Reyes to the third spot.

In yesterday’s Intra-Squad Game and today’s Intra-Squad Game, Castillo batted first while Reyes batted second. However, most reporters think this is just a tactict to get Castillo off to a good start.

In all likelihood, I think this will be the Mets Lineup in 2009:

Reyes

Castillo/Murphy

Wright

Delgado

Beltran

Church

Murphy/Castillo

Schneider
